Hazelnuts have been grown along the Black Sea coast in 
northern Turkey since around 300 BC. Today more than half 
of the word’s suppfy of hazelnuts comes from this area, as 
they are famous for their rich, buttery flavor. About a third 
of Turkey’s hazelnuts come from Ordu, in far eastern Anatolia, where hazelnuts are not just staple drop but infused in 
every part of life. The landscape is lush and green, and the 
orchards thrive in the warm, wet climate.
